Laura Gee
Physiotherapist APAM
“Prior to becoming a Physiotherapist I was a professional ballet dancer, completing my training at the New Zealand School of Dance before performing with the Royal New Zealand Ballet and then Europa Dance in France. Following my ballet career I became a pilates mat instructor and then decided to become a physiotherapist as I wanted to offer more to my clients who came to me wanting advice on their various injuries.
I graduated from Curtin University in 2014 with first class Honours for my research project looking into the effects of fatigue upon the lower limb landing biomechanics of elite ballet dancers.
I began working at Fremantle hospital on the general, orthopaedic and rehabilitation wards, then moved to Port Hedland with my husband where I took up a position at the local hospital. In this role I developed a varied skill set working daily on the general, paediatric and maternity wards, running exercise and rehabilitation classes (both land and hydro based), seeing a wide variety of outpatients from chronic and orthopaedic conditions, disabilities, respiratory conditions, antenatal and postnatal clients, paediatrics and musculoskeletal conditions. Along with community based interventions and visits to remote communities.
I have attended regular professional training sessions and I am currently completing my PINC Cancer Certification, to join Kelly in providing Cancer Rehabilitation at Jurien Bay Physiotherapy.
This year I will also complete the Level 1 Dry Needling Course and plan on under taking my clinical pilates certification in the near future. Staying informed and aware of the best evidence based treatment is essential to providing great outcomes for your patients.
I love living in Jurien Bay and I am committed to providing the best care and treatments to the community that we service.”
